If you're building a startup, this changes how you think about defensibility. In 2023, you could look clever with a prompt and a landing page. In 2026, the frontier players are building an industrial supply chain. That doesn't mean you need your own power plant. It does mean the platform you depend on might have radically different pricing and availability depending on how well they've secured energy.

It also connects back to healthcare. Regulated verticals don't love instability. If your clinical workflow depends on an API, you need assurances about uptime, throughput, and predictable latency. CCA is basically an admission that the secret sauce isn't only the model. It's the surrounding system that manages state, plans work, and keeps a durable understanding of the project.

Why does this matter for founders and engineering leads? Because the most valuable agents won't be the ones that write a clever function. They'll be the ones that behave like a competent teammate over days, across tickets, with memory that persists and tooling that's shaped to your stack.

It also threatens a certain kind of proprietary agent startup. If open scaffolds keep improving, the differentiation shifts again: distribution, workflow integration (GitHub/GitLab/Jira/CI), and enterprise controls. Same story as healthcare, honestly. Trust and integration beat raw cleverness.
